You Do NOT Have Enough Insurance Coverage! Deborah Nelson+ March 1, 2016

I had initially planned to title this article “Do You Have Enough Insurance Coverage?,” but after over two decades of representing injured people and fighting insurance companies, I know that the vast majority of people do NOT have enough insurance coverage – and that they and their families are suffering as a result.

People purchase insurance coverage for two reasons.  First, to protect yourself against claims made against you to compensate people they might injure (and because the law requires that they purchase this kind of insurance).  Second, to protect them in the event that the person who injures them doesn’t have enough insurance coverage.

People think it is unfair that they have to purchase additional insurance coverage to protect them from the harm that may be caused by others.  I agree.  This is unfair.  However, who cares more about you and your family other than you?  No one!  We all have to take responsibility for ourselves.  Purchasing the right types of insurance and the correct amount of coverage is the first step toward taking care of yourself and your family.  If you don’t purchase the right types and amounts of insurance, you might find yourself unable to pay medical bills, replace lost wages, compensate you for the injuries and harms you suffer, or paying for the harm you cause someone else out of your own pocket!

Admittedly, insurance is a confusing topic – and it often feels like the cards are stacked against you.  We know this and we can help you.  We are launching an “insurance education campaign” to arm you with the tools and information you need to protect yourself and your family.  Follow us on Facebook, check our blog, and take advantage of the resources we have developed to give you these tools.  Education is the first step toward protection.
